The Course

For those golfers who want a great golfing experience on one of North East of England’s finest courses, you’ve come to the right place.

Course Tour and Sponsors

The course is surrounded to the north and west by rolling fields with views to the east of the coast and St Mary’s lighthouse and visitor centre. It is widely regarded as one of the finest and most challenging courses in the region due in no small part to the undulating terrain, the Brier Dene that traverses a number of holes (requiring a strong nerve for the tee-shots), and the subtly contoured greens that have been recognised as being as good as any in the area..

WHS Rating, Scorecard & Local Rules

At 6579 yards the course isn’t long but it is a great test of golf and has hosted many national and county events over the years, including a European Tour event in 1977.  There are five sets of tees: White, Yellow, Red, Orange and Blue. The White “Championship Course” has a World Golf Handicap Rating of 72.7 and a Slope Index of 135.

Course Management

A great course demands an immense amount of hard work behind the scenes. Our Course Management team work tirelessly and with great pride to ensure our golf course is maintained to exceptional standards. Don’t take our word for it, read the many great reviews from our visitors.

The club is internationally recognised as one of only 50 in the UK to have achieved the GEO Certified® excellence award, the symbol of great golf environments worldwide – designating a golf facility as having met high standard in the areas of Nature, Resources, Community, and is committed to continuing improvement.
